We are a team of Masters and Bachelors students from Wageningen University & Research. Our academic and professional expertise spans plant sciences, resilient farming systems, business development, accounting, food security, and social justice.
Our vision
Vision: At The HAB, we envision habitats—from homes to Earth and beyond—as interconnected ecosystems. By designing circular, regenerative systems, we strive to sustain life and ensure a flourishing future for all. Problem: Urban dwellers often face challenges such as limited access to affordable, healthy foods, long and inefficient food supply chains, and a lack of awareness about where their food comes from. These factors contribute to higher costs, poor nutrition, and a growing disconnection between people and sustainable food production methods.
Our solution
The HAB introduces Astro Gel-based indoor farming products that make sustainable food production accessible and engaging for urban households. These low-cost, reusable systems use less energy and water than traditional hydroponics, are safe and clean for in-home use, and are even food-grade and edible—making them perfect for kids and families. With Astro Gels, anyone can "farm like an astronaut" and create circular, sustainable food systems right at home.
