Our vision

The world, particularly in developing countries, faces a dual challenge of widespread malnutrition and significant food waste. Currently, in Indonesia, 4.5 million children are suffering from “wasting”, while 760,000 experience severe malnutrition, largely due to inadequate protein intake and poor dietary habits. Meanwhile, nutrient-rich byproducts like tofu dregs and catfish bones, which are high in protein and calcium are often discarded and contributing to environmental pollution. NutriStick targets to address these issues by creating nutritious, sustainable food that is made from food waste. By transforming these byproducts into affordable, high-protein foods, NutriStick also seeks to tackle the problem of malnutrition among children and vulnerable communities while promoting environmental sustainability. By creating NutriStick, a healthier, more conscious society will be formed while food waste will be minimized, and nutritional needs will be met effectively.

Our solution

The population currently prefers savory snacks, and adopting a high-protein snack consumption method can help to change healthy eating habits in the community through education and dietary variety. Education on balanced nutrition, current food, reading nutrition data, and assistance throughout the first 100 days of life will be provided to support the program and serve as an indicator of success. NutriStick is a food diversification innovation that promotes protein intake in the community. Tofu pulp flour contains vegetable protein, while catfish bones contain animal protein. NutriStick not only serves as a nutritious processed product, but it also minimizes the availability of fish bone waste and tofu pulp, both of which are considered food waste in the community. This product's lengthy shelf life allows it to be supplied safely without regard for distribution risks. Furthermore, the product in the shape of a snack is relatively light, lowering distribution expenses. The chances that will be presented are highly exciting, especially as Nutristick promotes both the environment and community nutrition.
